Know the course

A little history of Newmarket

Royal patronage helped establish racing at Newmarket in the seventeenth century. Its racecourses, training grounds and surrounding studs remain central to the British thoroughbred industry.

What to look for in the form

The Rowley Mile and July Course have distinct layouts and seasonal programmes, so “Newmarket form” is most useful when matched to the correct course.

Fat Tony says: Track knowledge helps, but it never replaces current form. Compare today’s distance, surface, draw and likely pace before making a call.
