Tony’s shortlist
Fat Tony’s AI picks
8. Cool In Command
The young gun maps sweetly from gate three; light weight and that sharp fresh win make him the one, capisce.
1. Brutal Riff
Proper soft-track record and a couple of trials under the belt; wide draw is the only sour olive.
3. Interlaken
Blinkers go on, the apprentice claim helps, and the Ashburton trial says he can barge into the finish.
2. Explode
Rock-hard fit, drawn the paint and honest on winter tracks; good each-way criminal at $7.50.
5. Bakhita
Soft-ground mare with gate two and market support; fresh is the query, but she can sneak into the top five.

Race preview
BRUTAL RIFF (1) won on debut at Wingatui, and then was runner-up at Riccarton prior to going for a spell after a modest effort there in late April. He would have further matured over his break, and will be in good condition for his return with a couple of trials under his belt. Follow any positive money trails. COOL IN COMMAND (8) made his South Island debut a winning one when scoring a soft win on the Riccarton poly track, and he won't find this much harder. He benefits from a kilo claim, and with a turf surface not being an issue, he can repeat the dose. EXPLODE (2) has found it hard to win another race, but he will be rock-hard fit after holding his form well enough during his winter campaign. He has the pole position, and is worth including in all top 4 combos. INTERLAKEN (3) had his issues after w debut win at Avondale, and he makes his South Island debut fresh up. Check the market moves. DRIFTIN (6) can be a touch wayward, but if she runs true, then she can win this.
