Tony’s shortlist
Fat Tony’s AI picks
1. Hip Flask
Drawn the paint, loves the bog and gets a handy 2kg claim—Tony says catch him if you can.
3. Super Patch
Honest debut third on Heavy and likely lands right on the speed; proper danger, pal.
10. Must Bee
Two strong heavy-track thirds, light weight and good gate—she’ll be buzzing late.
5. Papparazzi
Trial winner with Rooke aboard; wide alley is the sting, but has enough class for a cheque.
4. Bacana
Solid Taupo fourth in the slop and maps nicely midfield—one for the exotics, mate.

Race preview
HIP FLASK (1) is a lightly tried 6YO gelding who has been well supported in all of his 3 starts to date, including being sent out as the favourite in each run this prep. He drops 2kg this time thanks to a claim and should go close to taking it out. MUST BEE (10) is edging closer to a win after back-to-back third place finishes on heavy ground in similar fields to this. Keep her safe. PAPPARAZZI (5) is resuming from a spell that has done him the world of good if his recent trial win is anything to go by. He meets the right sort of field and would not be a surprise winner. BACANA (4) fought on gamely to finish fourth at Taupo a fortnight ago, and with a touch more improvement, he can figure in the top 3 this time. SUPER PATCH (3) was placed at Hawera on debut and with the natural improvement that is expected second up, he should go close to taking this out.
