Fat Tony’s AI picks

1

1. Happy Star

Heavy-track old stager, pal; class and jumpin' dash can lug the 70kg home.

2

3. Roc Up Ralph

Two-from-two at this track and trip—knows every blade of the swamp.

3

2. Dictation

Riccarton form is proper; 68kg and a likely soft lead make him dangerous.

4

6. The Belvoir

Woodville win was no fluke, see—well weighted and the $7 fixed quote has appeal.

5

5. Jake

Forgive the flat flop; loves Te Aroha 3100m in the mud, a cheeky place chance.

Race preview

DICTATION (2) just battled in his last start at Riccarton in the GN Hurdles, when following on from a game third there on the first day of that meeting. He is a classy hurdler when right, and he is good enough to take this out. HAPPY STAR (1) destroyed his rivals when making a winning steeplechase debut. He still retains plenty of dash on the flat, and is good enough to carry a big weight, and beat this lot as well. SQUIRE (4) has had a tune-up run on the flat in the lead up to this, and he will be looking to get some confidence back over the jumps with a better showing in this. Stick with him. JAKE (5) was out-paced on the flat when finishing well back at Te Rapa 8 days ago on good ground. Expect him to be far more competitive over jumps on a wet track this time. Each way. THE BELVOIR (6) is a lot more competent in this role this year, and the results are showing this. He is not out of this at all.
