Tony’s shortlist
Fat Tony’s AI picks
1. Appeared
The Baker improver looks a proper stayer, capisce—won smartly first-up and gets the right run.
2. Forbidden Riff
McEvoy aboard, class relief and honest staying form; the obvious danger, my friend.
7. Proxima Centauri
Lightweight mare is fit, gets blinkers and has form around the favourite—nice place chance.
6. Sunburnt Country
Comes in flying with only 55kg after the claim; late punch can grab a cheque.
5. Steel Blaze
Hit the line well at Wyong and gets the trip now—rough value for the exotics, boss.

APPEARED (1) was terrific late in his Australian debut off a long break at Newcastle and he looks a promising stayer for the Baker yard. This is a softer stepping stone and he should make light work of it. FORBIDDEN RIFF (2) ran headfirst into Aethelwulf two back then found another handy one in Foire De Trone last time. He was good without threatening in both and may have bumped into another smart one here. STEEL BLAZE (5) drops in grade and carries a clear fitness edge. He'll be doing his best work late. SUNBURNT COUNTRY (6) deserves his shot in town after an arrogant Acton win at Canberra and with the 3kg claim he gets in at a featherweight. He can find the frame without surprising. PROXIMA CENTAURI (7) is on the quick back up from Gosford and his peaks say he can punch out a minor placing.
