Tony’s shortlist
Fat Tony’s AI picks
9. Gym Junky
McCarthy polish and the short fixed quote say he is primed second-up, pal.
6. Kelloshiel
Ignore the last couple, punters are steaming her and that 1:52 win is serious gear.
7. Birdy Gal
Forgive the awkward-draw flop; her prior 16m demolition makes her dangerous.
1. Racing Writer
Ace draw is the gift, mate—can control it and give plenty of cheek.
5. Vespa Stride
Two honest Menangle thirds on the trot; the colt is a knockout exotics chance.

Race preview
BIRDY GAL (7) continued her good form when she won easily at this circuit and distance two runs ago before a midfield finish from this barrier at her latest appearance. Not disgraced last time and is a major player with even luck. GYM JUNKY (9) was well fancied and led in his first outing for McCarthy but weakened out. Draws wider but should be fitter so may be worth another chance. GIMME A REASON (8) may need some luck from a wide draw but there was plenty of merit in last week's fourth. RACING WRITER (1) has been coming from wider barriers of late and managed a win here three back so may feature from the ace draw.
