Presents off a much better effort at Launceston and has the speed to manage the awkward gate. KNIGHTS REIGN (3) improved sharply second-up, leading and winning a Launceston Maiden. This is tougher, but he keeps the handy 3kg claim and looks to have turned the corner. RIPPINGTON (7) disappointed at Launceston third-up but won his Maiden here by 5L fresh before placing at Launceston over 1400m. Has a low gate and should get every chance to run out the longer journey. ALPINE JOY (8) went well last time and will be around the mark.
